About Lobster

Introducing Lobster Restaurant feels a bit like letting you in on a coastal secret that locals quietly love to keep to themselves. Sitting right on Van Iseghemlaan 64 in 8400 Oostende, Belgium, this seafood restaurant leans fully into its name, with Lobster taking center stage in a way that feels confident, fresh, and totally unpretentious. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere gives off relaxed seaside energy, the kind of place where conversations flow easily and time slows down just enough to enjoy what’s on the table. I usually describe it as casual but polished, where seafood lovers can feel at home without any stuffy fine-dining pressure. The menu is built around quality ingredients and bold flavors, and while Lobster is clearly the star, the overall seafood selection keeps things interesting for repeat visits. It’s also one of those spots that works for different moods, whether you want a laid-back dine-in experience, a quick takeaway after a beach walk, or the convenience of delivery when you’re staying in. Drinks are very much part of the experience here, too, with a well-rounded selection that includes wine, beer, cocktails, and spirits, making it easy to pair your meal exactly how you like it. If you’re more in the mood for something mellow, coffee is always an option, while late-night food makes this place especially appealing when most kitchens nearby have already closed. What I appreciate most is how approachable the service feels, friendly without hovering, which makes it easy to settle in and enjoy yourself. Lobster Restaurant fits naturally into Oostende’s coastal rhythm, offering seafood that feels honest, satisfying, and designed for people who genuinely enjoy good food without overthinking it.

A tranquil restaurant offering amazing seafood platters prepared with love and care by who seem to be the owners. We were celebrating my best friend's birthday and they brought her a delicious molten chocolate cake with a sparkler on their own initiative. A great experience overall!

Family owned and run, the staff is absolutely friendly and efficient and super accommodating of my food allergies. All the food is fresh, wonderfully prepared and served, I can't wait to come back.

We love a good seafood platter and had discovered Lobster on the Internet. The restaurant is very small, on a street just one down from the promenade; very neat and well presented. The service was gentle, friendly and efficient. They have a very good menu of fish and seafood, but we’d gone for the platter, and we chose for 2 of us: • The Royal: with a lobster, a crab, langoustines, oysters, vongole (clams), mussels, shrimps, periwinkles, whelks, large and small prawns. The lobster, crab and langoustines were cooked to order (steamed)and still warm when served. The platter looked really fabulous, and was a very generous portion. We have to say, this was one of the best platters we’ve ever had! Delicious, fresh seafood and the just-cooked lobster, crab and langoustines made such a difference. They’d also cooked some of the shellfish in flavoured stocks, for example, the winkles were cooked in stock with cayenne pepper - very tasty. For me the brown crab was a highlight - good size, sweet, delicious. But we thoroughly enjoyed everything. We were also served an amuse bouche of a couple of good dishes: a fried oyster in a pea jus, and some herring in a whipped, creamy loveliness. For dessert I chose a chocolate fondant with a really rich cherry ice cream and fresh cherries. We left extremely happy and rather full, after a really fabulous lunch! Thoroughly recommended.
